I remember the day my heart put drums to shame. I rested my hand on my chest- wondering if it was possible to feel the outline of your heart. I looked for reassurance from the instructor’s face before I parasailed over the ocean, “Am I going to be OK?” I asked panicky. He did not speak a word of English; instead he knocked on wood- not necessarily reassuring. “Maybe,” my dad said, “Sylvia 2.0 is a little more fearless…,” and she was.
Who is your 2.0 self?
What does the best version of yourself look like? How is he/she different than the person you are today? The person you are picturing is your 2.0 self. We are constantly learning and growing, the idea of the 2.0 self is wonderful because no matter what version of yourself you’re becoming- this mindset allows you to chase the best version of yourself.
The number 40 is a significant and spiritual number across many religions and cultures. For this challenge, we invite you to participate in accomplishing a goal over a 40-day period. This amount of time will allow for any notable changes to occur, if these changes are desired- the goal has the potential of becoming habitual moving forward. If not, one does not have to continue after 40 days. This goal can be anything you wish- Some ideas for a 40-day goal might include:
- Participating in an ALC service
- Changes in diet/lifestyle
- Or simply, “find the best in today.”
The goal you choose should be reflective of what you believe will help you grow into your 2.0 self.
The Black moon, or additional New Moon will appear on August 21, this is a spiritual time to reflect and prepare for a new beginning. The 2.0 challenge will fall on August 22-October 1.
In addition, we invite you to join the Facebook event called “ALC’s 2.0 Challenge,” it is a space to keep yourself accountable, vent, or look for support and inspiration. Please feel free to post every day of your 40-day journey, ask questions, or form connections with those who may have chosen a similar goal as you.
Our goal is for us as a community to support and encourage one another to grow into our best selves.
We cannot wait to meet your 2.0 self.
