Love Your Body Through the Earth
A Poem Written By: Sylvia Gonzalez
Love your body through the earth.
Your tears that remind your eyes they are not a desert,
That even they-
need water too.
Coupled with your rainforest heart,
that you might have crossed… many times,
But can still get lost in.
With hope that can die through a wind-sigh,
Or bloom kindly with every flower.
Your oceans of blood, filled with their mysteries
Going swimming through your histories;
And everything fulfilling that has yet to come.
You know what it is like to float or sink with love.
Yet, you still push back the waves of your doubt-
Breathing in and breathing out.
You can lose yourself on winding paths,
As we might ask- “what is my purpose?”
Let me remind you-
What grows from the dirt does not know why it’s planted…
But it will not question its intention-
To keep reaching up.
A bird fly’s in the sky, unbound.
Singing sweet songs,
but can never envelope her love in her arms.
An ant enjoys the paths in the dirt,
But will never know how to feel
the power in the kind of love that can heal,
The comfort that can always fill your empty tunnels.
The bird and the ant wonder what it is like to live in-between like you.
With your earthy body,
and words that can float through the sky of one’s mind- that can sing long-lasting tunes.
Embrace your loved ones who pick you up like dandelions,
Sending your worries away,
To grow elsewhere, to live anew.
For your body is earth,
It can stay in place, and it can soar.
Love your body like the earth
Because you are everything and more.
